Growing Gardens - Play Equipment

Using part of the garden to grow plants and vegetables is a great way to teach children about nature and watching and caring as the plants grow. It is really rewarding to be able to eat what you grow and what better way to learn about where food comes from. Raised beds make it practical and manageable to work in a garden all through the year and keep the maintenance to a minimum. Planting within the playground helps children to be stimulated by and understand the natural world around them, following the seasons and observing how wildlife, birds and insects are necessary to a thriving garden. An important part of the garden is recycling and we can build composters and maybe a wormery to ensure that your garden keeps thriving with a fertile soil. In a growing garden, children can learn about science and the environment and lots of children just love digging in the soil, so you might want to have a space just for messing about and getting dirty!
